This was established after Sri Lanka was hit during the 2004 Tsunami. The aim is to teach underprivileged children to swim.
Swim For Safety
The primary reason for this inability can be attributed to the unavailability of pool facilities for children and the general public. Existing swimming training programs are geographically limited to Colombo and surrounding areas and financially limited to the more affluent citizenry.
DAS is a new initiative of CandleAid in association with the Deaf and Blind School of Ratmalana. It is an extension of the existing Swim-for-Safety (SFS) programme started in 2007.
