CandleAid’s latest operational field is helping children with special needs. We started with DAS (Differently Abled Swimmers), training disabled children to swim – The DAS program came to an end in 2016 December. Now we have associated ourselves with two Day-Care Centres catering to disabled children, mainly in the down syndrome category.
Almost all the children who come daily to these places hail from poor families. It is a tremendous relief for the parents to see their children learning and playing in a safe environment. When they are happy and safe, the mothers are able to spend more time at home to attend to the needs of their families.
CandleAid’s role in this project is to facilitate a link between the children at these locations, with anyone who has the kindness to assist them in any way possible
