These are some of CandleAid’s past projects that we have completed.
Anjali Aham, a Psychological Counseling Center serves people mainly children of families affected by the 30 year civil war in Sri Lanka and the Tsunami that devastated the country in 2004. CandleAid managed to get the Lanka Lions of Dubai to sponsor the salaries of the 18 teachers who worked there.
CandleAid completely renovated and refurbished Ward No. 14, the female surgical ward at Maharagama Cancer Hospital. It was formally opened in February 2000. Since then, our coordinators have been making regular and periodic visits to the ward to ascertain the needs of the ward and its patients.
In the aftermath of flooding in the eastern region of Sri Lanka, many people were deprived of clean drinking water due to the severe contamination of wells in the area. CandleAid, through a generous donation made by the Lanka Lions of Dubai, was able to fund the cleaning of 597 wells in the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa.
